WHO WE ARE

The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, founded in 1895, is the oldest patriotic youth organization in our country. Membership is open to descendants of patriots of the American Revolution.

Members gain valuable leadership experience in conducting meetings, following parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, serving as delegates and speaking before groups at local, state and national conferences. The responsibility and privilege of selecting officers helps members gain an understanding of the democratic process.

At Parkinson's Ferry Society, Children of the American Revolution, we believe that children are the very essence of the future.  "Good citizens cannot be made suddenly.  They must grow..." - Harriett Lothrop, founder of the N.S.C.A.R.  As a leading Youth Organization in the Pittsburgh area, we go above and beyond to provide our youth an empowering environment where they can fully serve their communities and gain all the skills they need to be leaders tomorrow.

Our goals are to teach them the fundamentals of social responsibility and good citizenship. With over 60 members in the Pittsburgh area, our membership is thriving.  Curious to find out more about us and how you can get involved? OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

Building a Better Future

Parkinson's Ferry Society, Children of the American Revolution empowers youth in the greater Pittsburgh area to reach their fullest potential through a wide range of service activities.

Members get the opportunity to serve as society officers and chairmen, taking on leadership roles that prepare them for the future.  They are taught parliamentary procedure and how to conduct meetings.  We give all ages a chance to lead parts of the meetings, developing their ability to speak in front of others and feel comfortable taking on leadership roles.

Making a positive impact upon our communities, our society has collected and donated hundreds of DVDs to the local Veterans Hospital, canned food for a local food bank, shoes for disadvantaged children, BoxTops for Education for schools for children in crisis, books for children's libraries, and more.

Our members have walked in the Relay for Life, volunteered to clean up cemeteries, laid wreaths on veterans graves, taught literacy programs at a local library, and more.

Today's colleges and universities are looking for students who have served their communities, and C.A.R. gives our members that advantage in the application process.
